EXPERIENCE

Bernard has a rich history in Human Resources Development and has dedicated a lifetime helping people reach occupational goals.

​

Bernard has taught countless workshops to include: Federal Employment, Resume Writing, Career Exploration, Job Search Strategies, Interview Techniques, Executive

Transition Assistance Program (E-TAP) and Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

​

As a federal employee, Bernard gained vast experiences in employee development and job placement as Regional Employment Coordinator and Vocational Rehabilitation

program manager for the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Labor,respectively. 

​

Bernard’s genuine interest and passion for helping people was evident by his selection to spearhead the National Offices Pacesetter Program and provide leadership training to 10 highly-qualified candidates. Bernard worked directly with Human Resources staff in the review and selection process, identifying “Best Qualified” candidates for federal positions.

​At the State level, Bernard coordinated employer panels, attended job fairs, conducted employer visits, held mock interviews, and performed case management for chapter 31 veterans identified as having significant barriers to employment.

​

Bernard was the Employment Assistance Program coordinator, facilitating core programs to job seekers and was contracted by the city of Virginia Beach teaching

workforce employment classes at the Adult Learning Center to job seekers.

 

Bernard is credentialed as a Certified Federal Career Coach, Resume Writer, and Job Search Trainer; trained and certified by Kathryn Troutman, owner of The Resume Place and leading expert in federal employment application.
