THE TEN STEP PROCESS

STEP 1:

Understanding how to effectively NETWORK and learn how to market yourself successfully – who you know is as equally important as what you know.

STEP 2:

Learn how to find those ideal positions hidden within agencies requiring your specialized experience and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) by understanding how to REVIEW THE FEDERAL JOB PROCESS.

STEP 3:

RESEARCH VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR JOBS - then create online email account(s) which will channel federal job vacancy announcements to your profile daily. You can review many more announcements and match your experiences and training to government positions waiting to be filled.

STEP 4:

ANALYZING YOUR CORE COMPETENCIES provides value-added benefits which you can offer the employer - (ability to meet deadlines, think outside the box, creativity are competencies which should be in your resume).

STEP 5:

Take the guesswork out of your documents and learn how to effectively ANALYZE VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR KEYWORDS/KEYPHRASES and make them a part of your resume – this will make the review process significantly easier for the HR personnelist screening your application.

STEP 6:

Whether you decide to WRITE YOUR FEDERAL RESUME or apply ELECTRONICALLY online - attention to detail is a must and very critical! Each federal agency has its own process for applying, screening, interviewing and hiring staff – learn how to make yourself more competitive.

STEP 7:

Learn a highly-effective and proven format recognized by many agencies which can greatly assist in writing "killer" KSA’s AND COVER LETTERS to outline your "success" stories. STEP 8: "Best Qualified" is the term recognized by Office of Personnel’s Managements (OPM) Human Resources department when considering selection candidates - so increase your odds by submitting resumes’ for multiple positions in government when you APPLY FOR JOBS AND SUBMIT YOUR RESUME.

STEP 9:

Then TRACK AND FOLLOW UP YOUR APPLICATIONS so that you know the status at all times; contact key personnel and ask about the process. Ask questions about previous applications to improve future opportunities.

STEP 10:

An approach such as this will make you very prepared and standout when you INTERVIEW FOR A FEDERAL JOB. Afterall, if you don’t ask the "right questions" you won't get the "right answers"… prepare for all forums - whether a panel, supervisor or telephone interview.
